'24 Wrap Up: Music! Life! AI-ndy? Not Yet

Before we get to the annual best of ‘24 music (well, you can cheat & go to the playlist here), family and life can I just say….

HOLY SCHMOLIES! Life on Earth just continually gets more and more.....something.

It has me re-assessing how to spend the next XYZ+ years of existence that aren't a post-life sentient digital replica of my soul

With that uplifting train of thought, I needed a little inspiration for this year’s wrap up so I created what I guess is the beta version of my digital replica - ChatAND…y

Long Diatribe of ChanANDy

Good idea, digital ‘me’ but for this thang I’ll just share some highlights…

Let's start out with a bit of a twist. Outside of some of my kids' tunes which are coming soon (and I purposely don't put them in my top 10 as they would win every year but they are in the playlist), here is

A Song That Did Not Come Out in '24...But  I Am Dying For It To

Oh, one more thing before music. Taking a tip from ChatAND(y), here are

Some Other Things Done to Help the Soul in '24

Best Albums/EPs I discovered in '24

(and here's a playlist of highlights
& lots of other great '24 discoveries)

1) Lubalin - ha ha no worries

Melodic with drum and bass throwback beats? Yes please!

2) Joe P - His entire catalog incl. this year’s Garden State Vampire

I can't get enough of this guy. Star in the making

3) Waxahachee - Tigers Blood

Solid. Solid. Solid.

4) Childish Gambino - Bando Stone and The New World

So different than what he's done before

5) Hailaiker - Serenity Now

Love male/female harmonies done just right

6) Caleb L’Etoile - 3 EPs from 2023 and 2024

"Two More Years" has become one my constant 'go to's as of late

7) (tie) Wilderado - Talker/Ethan Tasch - Got Him!

Very similar vibe from these well-written, songwriter-driven albums

8) Medium Build - Country

Somehow I just dig loneliness songs

9) X Ambassadors - Townie

They seem to have two speeds - great songs that don't become hits and...

10) Mk.gee - Two Star & The Dream Police

Their songs are like a really really good buzz that just stays in the zone and you dig being there...but sorta wanna see it go up a level

Two Best Cover(s) of 2024

Eddie Vedder - Save It For Later

The original is always a go to for party throwbacks but the low key vibe just matches with a fantastic season of The Bear

Jensen McRae - American Teenager

She also has the best song (Massachusetts) of the year.

Closing Out:

One of the More Humbling Moments of 2024

To stick with the theme of this year's wrap up, you may have heard me tell this story but I received a package from Amazon

I couldn't remember what I ordered.

The print on the Amazon package was waaay too small to read.

I opened up the package

It was travel reading glasses
